Test Drive Meme - April Edition!

Ahh Hinoto-Ri. City of lights, questionable Wards, the 13th Hour and Personas. A city that requires your aid in saving it.

SCENARIO 1: FIREFLIES

Look at all these bugs moving around the forest! The air is still cool but springtime has finally arrived. What a nice, present surprise for everyone involved. But what are these bugs doing? Moving around you? Sticking in your hair?

SCENARIO 2: Q'S CAR REMAINS THE BEST SCENARIO
Well it's been a hell of a ride so far, but you've now found yourself somehow testing one of Q's vehicles.

'Oh, and do try to bring it back in one piece' he said. What are all these buttons again?!

Did you read the manual?...

...wait...

...do you even have a driving license?

SCENARIO 3
13th hour. Although technically the 25th of each day, it is the time when this world seems to change, the entire city turning a shade of dark red, demons coming out, buildings shifting and dangers lurking at every corner.

But it's your job to make this safer. Just be careful of what you run into...

...this is rather confusing. But you've learned not to think that something you see is exactly as it might be. It could be far more dangerous and deadly than it lets on...

SCENARIO 4
You've arrived into Hinoto-Ri! And wow, the weather is warming right now. Like an early hot breeze in spring. At least it makes you feel more at ease...unless you came here prepared for terrible weather. Sorry! Maybe if you can find someone who knows exactly what is happening, you'll be able to comfirm that it wasn't just a dream? Remember the man who said you were here as a special guest! This the city you're supposed to save, so let's find out more about it!

SCENARIO 5
Well, April 1st is the start of the new school year in Hinoto-Ri! That's right, come save the city, and somehow you're still stuck in school! DAMN YOU, EDUCATION!

And the belling is ringing and...it's music class, awww....

[[OOC - Welcome to the test post! Don't worry too much about Persona stats or your levels here, just come out and make up a scenario about what they are doing. Try out your potentials and interact with the city around you! We'll supply some NPCs once in a while when you least expect it (after all have to test those out too, right?)]]

Scenario 1

[O...kay. Fireflies. Lots of fireflies. Wasn't expecting that when he woke up. Still, it's not much of a surprise to wake up in an unfamiliar place so Sora moves through the dancing lights with ease. Now was the time to find people and set up camp. Digging in one of his pockets he pulls out a device that looks a lot like a Blackberry but frowns after checking it for a few minutes.]

That's weird.

[It wasn't showing him anything. Almost like it had gone dead, which was ridiculous considering these things seemed to survive just about anything. So Sora tucks it away, determined to find his friends the old-fashioned way. Maybe he'd find them in time to share this scene. But first he'd need light in order to not trip over something in the dark.

To anyone wandering by they might notice the ball of white light floating in front of him first, or catch sight of the darkened collar around his neck, or even his fairly thin frame. Or maybe the trail of golden fireflies following after him like a line of ducks.]

Scenario 5

[School. Definitely a weird feeling to go to school. He hasn't been in years. It seems...pointless after everything. Still, it filled his days with normal rather than endless torture or boredom. Well...

To a point anyway. School had never been Sora's favorite thing to do. When he learned things back at the Facility it was what he'd wanted to learn. Plus he was technically 19 even if he looked about 16. He shouldn't have to go to school. (Not that he physically ever had, if he thought about it.)

So here he was, dragging his feet on the way to music class even though it wasn't nearly as boring as the other ones. Even though he liked music, it doesn't mean he's all that good at it. Too bad for everyone else.]

[Normally Xion spends her evenings at home with friends, but after hearing a customer at the pet store talk about the fireflies' display (and how her little dog loved chasing after them), she decides that a night out to see it wouldn't be... too bad, after all.

It really is quite beautiful, but somewhere in the midst of her wandering, she gets the ping of a new arrival, and upon checking its location on her COMP, decides that... she should probalby cut her wandering short to help. Well, it would probably be best to get them inside, before the 13th Hour and the monsters come out.

So she changes direction, until she looks up and sees the trail of fireflies following-

Ohhhhh dear. Even at a distance the figure was unmistakable. Part of her wants to beat a hasty retreat but... someone has to help him now that he's here. So... she edges closer, a little more nervous now.]

Sora?

[Would he even know who she is?]

[It's the voice that catches his attention first. One down and a dozen more to go. He has a genuine smile for her because that's what they did, leaned on each other and tried to lift each other out of the hardships. Words are out of his mouth before he can stop himself, before he can notice the differences in the dark. Even his hand is out so he could draw her closer into the firefly group he's accumulated.]

Good, you're here! Have you seen th-?

[Suddenly the smile slips away and his hand freezes as he notices the lack of collar, lack of pale skin and saddened look that set the Xion he knew apart from any others.

No.

Fear grips his heart and panic flickers across his face. Don't let it be true. Please don't let this be a new Xion who had replaced the one he knew best.

That hovering hand moves to the back of his hair to ruffle it as he smiles again, a nervous smile.]

Sorry, I thought you were...someone else, Xion.

[Look, he does know!]

[Xion, unfortunately for Sora, is observant, and quick to notice the hasty switch. Kairi? Except... no, he knew her name. What was- Her eyes snap to the collar on his neck, take in his skinny frame, and something clicks.

Her mouth drops open, eyes widening]

That... that collar. [Her hand unconsciously comes up to rub at her own neck in sympathy. It's just like Kairi's and Namine's and their friends, after all....] Are... you're from the Facility too, right?

[Too. So even if she isn't the one you know, there might be (and in fact, are) others here you do, right?]

[The reaction was not one he expected, the name even less. He'd seen Xion when she was still new and skittish around him and even met the one who lived on inside his heart (or had memories of meeting her) but this one was different.

But the fact that she knew the name meant someone was here. Possibly even someone familiar. Was it like the time in Abyss when the other Shikamaru had said he knew about them because they'd visited?

Was he truly visiting another world or was this some hallucination brought on by the computer in charge?]

I... Yeah. [p a u s e] There are others here?

[So many questions lay beneath the surface of that simple question, threatening to bubble over but for all Sora knows he could have missed them.]

[She's still a little skittish, to tell the truth, but she's pushing ~~most of~~ the nervousness aside to focus on helping someone in need. She nods at his question.]

Yeah. Kairi, and Namine, and Shiki and some of her friends.

[She's still learning their names.]

You just got here right? I... can show you where some of us are staying.

[At least, all the people she knows best. Or maybe the apartments were better, considering that once the 13th hour hit, the Castle would turn into Castle Oblivion, which would be a nasty surprise to any new arrival (it had been for her and she hadn't even been new).]

[His heart practically leaps up into his chest when Xion nods only to have it plummet into his stomach when she says those first two names. Is this some kind of trick? A terrible trick Val was playing on them on?

Kairi and Namine...they were terminated. Sora can't say that to her though. Couldn't bring himself to explain what 'terminated' meant in the Facility. Would they even be the ones who remembered everything?

So he nods in return while he finds the ability to speak.]

That'd be great. What is this place?

[Another elaborate F3 with an extra week of visitors is the thought his mind supplies.]

[Xion turns, raising a hand awkwardly to indicate he could fall into step beside her if he wants.]

This city is called Hinoto-Ri. We're all called from our own universes to help save this place, though... we don't really know how to do that yet.

[She glances over at him, expression guarded]

I know there was... another me there. You guys... probably remember things really different from me too. It's how this place works, sometimes. Sorry.

[Her eyes dart away, until she's slightly distracted by the fireflies. They reminded her of that time in that one world, the one with the bayous and that horrible witch doctor who'd made the doll that'd nearly killed Axel. She hadn't had the chance to really enjoy the sights then, but she is now and will probably try to come again another night...

She shakes her head. No, she needs to focus.]

The... the important thing is you're not in the Facility anymore. There's... it's not exactly safe everywhere or all the time, but it's still better than there.

[At least, what she'd gleaned from Kairi's explanation]

[And he does rather easily, as if they've walked side-by-side before.]

Save it from what?

[There were all kinds of enemies out there in the universe, some he didn't even know about. His gaze is kept on the ground in front of them, watching the shadows disappear as his ball of light chases them away.]

It's okay. [It was as long as his Xion was out there somewhere. He wants to reassure her that he might not even remember things correctly but that's not something Sora opens up right away.] We can still get to know each other. You know, make a brand new friendship.

[The words are so casually spoken that one might wonder how many times he's said something similar. He wants to believe that so much but it's hard. Every time he thought he was out it was just a trick or a cruel prank.]

Sometimes we go to this place that looks like a city or a world, it feels so real at first. And sometimes we even get visitors who are trapped in other worlds visiting too. It'd be nice if it's true.

[Not complete disbelief but an explanation of why it'll be hard to convince him otherwise.]

We aren't sure who or what we're even supposed to be protecting it from. They haven't exactly given us a lot of information.

[She sounds slightly peeved about this. Everyone of the locals was hating them for not really doing much and yet they didn't even know what they were supposed to be doing...

At the same time, Xion looks away a little awkwardly at Sora saying they could form a new friendship. That was a very... Sora-ish thing to say. She shouldn't have been surprised or nervous maybe but... It was still strange to hear almost]

Yeah... that's true.

['It'd be nice if it's true.'

Something about that doesn't sit well with her. Like... like he doesn't believe it. Kairi and Namine hadn't been ready or willing yet to talk about any details of what had happened in the Facility, but... did something happen there that made them think it wouldn't be true? It sounded like it.]

I've been here for six months. We... we can go back to our own universes, if we really want to, though I don't think we can get back here if we go. But... I don't want to leave myself until I know this world's okay.

[Aaaall the guilt complexes regarding world safety, but that's a long story she's not touching on now. Not to mention her Sora is here.]

You... remember a dream, before you got here, right?

We'll just have to find someone who knows.

[Though that didn't completely work out for them when they went looking for information. People died and that wasn't right, no matter what they'd done. But looking for someone, they could do that.

The idea was easy to grasp as he believed his Xion was still out there alive. He always tried to make friends with old faces but he had moments when he couldn't bring himself to.]

It'll be fun. [Knowing more about this Xion, telling her the good parts of his life.

Val was good at building places. Bringing in new people. It wouldn't be a surprise if this was just another one of her experiments.]

Back to where we came from? [He's not sure he wants to at the moment. Not until he finds out there's still a lot of people missing. And he doubted he could go to the universe where the real Sora lived. It hadn't been something he considered in years.] I wonder if we could go to other universes.

[If this place really isn't so bad Sora feels he could leave it to rescue those who were dealing with absolutely terrible things.

A dream. A dream... To be honest, he remembers a lot of dreams so he's not sure what exactly she's looking for. Sora crosses his arms over his chest.] What kind of dream?

You should have gotten it right before you woke up. A man named Philemon... well, he explained some things. About here.

[She knows that sometimes people forget a lot of their first dream with Philemon, depending on who it was. She remembered most of it herself at the time, though the details were now far sketchier nearly a year after the fact.

It wasn't necessary, really, to remember the dream. It just helped.]

I think... that we can maybe go to other universes, actually, but... I'm not sure how much control we have, not to mention...

[The last time people she knew had gone to other universes from this place, it hadn't ended well. Even if she didn't really know what all had happened to Kairi and Aqua and the others at Animus...

She pauses, glancing around as the trees start to thin out and they approach the edge of the forest.]

We should get inside... we don't want to be out when the 13th hour hits.

[Not that she doesn't trust Sora to take care of himself on the whole but... if he's from the Facility, she's worried not to mention it just seemed like a bit much for any new arrival]

[A bit of a frown as he tries to recall this dream. Was his head so messed with that he couldn't remember it? Possibly. He had three lives and a bunch of other people's memories stuffed into his head.]

Nope, don't remember it. I must've been [Unconscious.] pretty out of it.

[There's been a lot he's forgotten over the years. A dream wouldn't be hard to forget. Sora wished he remembered though.

Trailing off, it was a good sign that it was something a person didn't want to talk about right away. He'd respect that.]

That man you mentioned, is he the one in charge around here?

[Like a king or evil controlling computer program.

They're leaving the fireflies behind, none of them trailing after them.]

The 13th hour?

[Urging him inside isn't exactly a good sign on his first night here. It feels a lot like his first arrival at the Facility, dropped into the middle of an experiment while nowadays it's always an off week when people come. Still, better to observe what was going on and get all the information he could before going in.]

[As one might imagine, the first thing to catch Kairi's eye was the parade of fireflies bouncing along in a neat and tidy line, a sight just about anyone would find unusual. It didn't really surprise her to see that this little group of glowing ducklings belonged to a mass of spiky brown hair, and an amused smile quirks onto her lips. Geez, just like Sora...

As she moves to approach him from behind, there's no sort of urgency to her movements. She hadn't quite caught glimpse of his collar just yet, and as far as Kairi knew, there was a Sora here already anyways. So off she goes to tap him gently on the shoulder around his little glowing gang, stopping in her steps and placing both of her hands on her hips.]

What exactly is the pied piper up to this evening?

[Both her expression and tone were teasing, and a small light was dancing in her eyes. Enjoy the casual attitude while you can, Sora; as soon as she realizes just who you are, she's gonna flip.

Without the tell-tale collar around her neck, Sora probably wouldn't have been able to immediately place this girl as his Kairi. Her form had filled back out after almost five months of proper nutrition, and there was a healthy flush to her cheeks that just about everyone had lost in Facility. Perhaps the only possible indicator was the tone and fit nature of her body after all the training their family had done together, and the long hair pulled back out of her face with a pony tail like she'd adopted back at the station after months without a haircut. There were also the scattered battle scars, but those had begun to somewhat fade as her skin tanned again in the natural sunlight and lost the sickly paleness of station-life. Save the rather large scar over her heart from that wonderful Saw trap, of course...

Once he does turn around and she gets an eyeful of his collar, please excuse her as her expression turns to one of shocked disbelief.]

Not sure I'd catch fireflies with my instrument playing.

[Sheepish, caught. It was so easy. So very easy to fall back into the way they used to be back before everything. Before the island was lost, before they were separated, before the horrors of the Facility. It was like instinct to slip into the roll of best friends that Sora doesn't even realizing he's doing it at first.

A look over his shoulder at the familiar red headed girl he'd known for years. Deja vu stikes then and his eyes widen, mouth gapes open to form words that he can't get out. As if he's just seen her in the World That Never Was after a year and she'd changed so much but Sora would recognize her anywhere. Older, healthier than he remembers last seeing her.

Alive.

He hadn't been there for her funeral, wouldn't have been able to stand over her grave with the hoards of other people there. So he'd slept. A pod-induced coma to allow Namine to fix his memories so he could see her in his dreams instead of laying lifeless. Her room occupied for a while before Nami joined her Other and Sora hadn't been able to go inside except once to dust the entire time.]

[No.

That wasn't right. He'd seen her once after that. After her termination. He'd chased her and Riku through his dreams. Caught up only to watch as she shifted into Aqua. Definitely a better memory than the other one he tried so hard not to think of.

But then he turns to face her fully and her face changes. Sora would swear that the disbelief was out of recognition. Or maybe that's hope. His eyes are definitely flicking down to her neck to see if there's a matching collar around her neck only to find it gone.]

Kairi?

[There's hope in that single name, looking at her face again as if it will tell him everything he needs to know.]

[Oh yes, there is nothing short of absolute recognition etched on Kairi's expression as she stares at his collar and back up to his face, body beginning to visibly shake as he calls out her name. Her breath catches slightly and she sways to the side, a tidal wave of emotions catching her and pulling her down as the implications of what exactly this all meant began to stack up her in mind. Her face cycles through a million different emotions as she registers the fact that yes, this was really the Sora she knew standing in front of her, and that he was finally here and finally safe. One hand coming up to cover her mouth in disbelief, the other reaches out towards him, almost as if she was afraid he'd disappear if she initiated contact herself, so much as she wanted to just throw her arms around him and hug him and never let go.]

Sora.

[Tears are very visibly pricking at the corners of her eyes, and who could really blame her? He was here and she was happy, but there was also an underlining sense of guilt and sorrow; she knew about her demise in Facility, Naminé had told her everything. To think she had put them through so much pain... but it was okay. Everything would be okay, because now he was here.]

[In that moment nothing else mattered. She was alive and reaching out for him. Any question he might have had disappears into the universe when he spies those tears forming. His vision of her blurs from his own watery eyes and Sora tries to blink them away to ensure that she doesn't go away. It's selfish to be glad to have her within reach, especially if this place really is the Facility with all its tortures but he is. He'd lost so many after her. Most of their family had been gone and the house no longer felt much like a home. It was a poor reminder of everyone who'd been terminated.

But here she was, standing in front of him with her memories intact and there's a happy ache in his chest as if part of him has been returned. So there's no hesitation to gather her up close and hold her tight.]

You're back.

[Softly as if any louder will break the moment.]

[Kairi holds on to him as if her live depended on it, as if he might disappear if she budged even an inch of her hold. Feeling the warmth of his body under her touch and hearing the soft murmur of his voice was like the world was clicking back into place, and she lets out a deep breath she hadn't known she'd been holding, shoulders sagging under the lifted weight she hadn't known she'd still been carrying. Every night she and Naminé had prayed for the safety of their friends and loved ones still on the station, to whom they were praying to they still had no idea, and slowly but surely others from Facility were trickling into Hinoto-Ri. Someone was listening.]

No, no...

[She shakes her head a little, tucking herself into the crook of his shoulder. This was the best part Sora, you didn't even understand. There was no more Val, no more Consortium, no more fear of their future...]

This isn't Facility. We, we've escaped...

[Kairi fumbles for her words, suddenly at a loss of how to explain to him the gravity of the situation, that even though they were stuck in the Darkness for so long, the Light had finally shown through and led them to a real home...]

[His sanity depends on her being really real. All this time Sora had never stopped hoping that she'd come back remembering everything, even though life in the Facility was terrible and shouldn't be wished on anyone. At first he'd never wanted her there but when she showed up, well, Sora didn't want her to leave. So to have her here in his arms - breathing and holding him back just as tightly was a miracle. Not many came back and even fewer had the same memories.

And then she's telling him they escaped and there's no choice to believe it from someone who knows the tricks Val can pull. He doesn't know how, or when or anything after the one week with the visitors. Did he get terminated again? Go comatose? Was this the planet they'd planned to land on?

All questions he can't manage to get out because he's laughing. It's a laugh full of disbelief, sheer shock and happiness. Sora picks her up and spins them around a couple of times while fireflies scatter before setting her back on her feet.]

We escaped!
