TEST DRIVE MEME - LATE APRIL/MAY EDITION

Ahh Hinoto-Ri. City of lights, questionable Wards, the 13th Hour and Personas. A city that requires your aid in saving it.

SCENARIO 1: GOLDEN WEEK

Tied to the trees and parts of the houses are a bunch of fish-like kites. It turns Hinoto-Ri's battle=-ravage buildings into something a little more beautiful. By now, the air outside is comfortable to walk with a small shirt.

The booths in the Scorpio ward are busy trying to sell you their trinkets and crops. Will you get a mask? Will you buy and outfit? Will you just grab a little something to eat?

SCENARIO 2: Q'S CAR Q'S CAR THE SCENARIO FOR ALL AGES
Well it's been a hell of a ride so far, but you've now found yourself somehow testing one of Q's vehicles.

'Oh, and do try to bring it back in one piece' he said. What are all these buttons again?!

Did you read the manual?...

...do you even have a driving license?


SCENARIO 3: CHERRY BLOSSOMS


By now all of the cheery trees in Hinoto-Ri are in full bloom. And what a beautiful sight it is! The smell is heavenly and couples and families hurry to the park to be able to secure a place under one of them to be able to enjoy a picnic together.

What a perfect time to arrive in the city!

SCENARIO 4: AN ENEMY APPROACHES! COMMAND?!
13th hour. Although technically the 25th of each day, it is the time when this world seems to change, the entire city turning a shade of dark red, demons coming out, buildings shifting and dangers lurking at every corner.

But it's your job to make this safer. Just be careful of what you run into...



...this is rather confusing. But you've learned not to think that something you see is exactly as it might be. It could be far more dangerous and deadly than it lets on...

SCENARIO 5: THIS IS JUST AN ARRIVAL PROMPT
You've arrived into Hinoto-Ri! And wow, the weather is warming right now. Like an early hot breeze in spring. At least it makes you feel more at ease...unless you came here prepared for terrible weather. Sorry! Maybe if you can find someone who knows exactly what is happening, you'll be able to comfirm that it wasn't just a dream? Remember the man who said you were here as a special guest! This the city you're supposed to save, so let's find out more about it!

Scenario 1

[Struck by- nay, paralyzed by indecision, Owain stood in front of the stall and considered his options.]

Hmm....

[This was a very thoughtful hm. He could go with the red helmeted heroic figure, or the blue beast, or the...actually, he was going to ask someone else. So, to the nearest person:]

Hey. What mask do you think looks better? I'm looking for something heroic, yet mysterious.

Scenario 4

[This is pretty confusing. But he's learned that appearences can be deceptive!

...well...yeah. I mean, think about Nah. She looks like a small child but can turn into a giant dragon and eat your face. And Noire goes from super shy to someone who'd laugh in the spray of fresh blood. And Inigo looks like someone who could get a date and can't, and Brady looks like a thug but is a total crybaby and all of this besides the point because Owain's got a fight to win!]

Halt, fiend!

[Okay, so, he's got an epic speech to do first. Strike a pose! Shit's about to get real.]

[The man strolling by some distance away from the adorable cuddly creature pauses in his tracks and glances towards Owain.]

[Grimsley saunters over and gravely examines the slime thing for a moment or two. This is followed by him leaning over and giving the bluish goop a head-pat.]

Hm. ...Gelatin.

Ah, don't let me interrupt your battle now; it's always a pleasure to watch aspiring trainers grow. Sorry - aspiring young men and women.

[It...it just doesn't feel the same now. The epic battle music he imagined playing now seems...silly and overwrought, at least for this occasion. The dramatic moves and attacks just...

The moment's lost! He could force it, but it's like how (back when they were kids) Kjelle would saunter in when he was in the middle of a move and just make him feel stupid with a few choice words. In this case, it was the head-pat that killed it.]

Well...maybe later. So, uh, 'trainer'?

No need to be embarrassed. Wouldn't you rather have a spectator to appreciate your heroics? I must applaud the time you've invested in devising that pose.

[The smile on Grimsley's face has taken a turn for the sardonic, but then again. He always looks like that.]

...Or perhaps you're seeking a more formidable opponent? 'Trainer', that's right. More specifically, monster trainer.

[Okay, he's...lowering his arm now that the guy mentioned his pose.

Then, slowly, he looks at the slime. At the moment, it's rolling on its back with a happy expression. Kind of a... ^-^, to articulate it in emotes. Owain looks at his sword, and, if but for a moment, steels himself to slash the beast but no it just...

No. He feels stupid now.]

Do you- [No, wait, gameface. He's got this.] Do you know where I could find a mightier creature to test my blade against, oh stranger? Some sort of eldritch abomination from beyond the pale, maybe, or a fanged beast worthy of my steel.

[Because, for some gods-forsaken reason, Inigo is without the company of anyone else he knows -- and because he'd much rather venture on with someone (even Owain) than to ever be alone -- he's stuck with him. This...wouldn't be too much of a problem, otherwise. He and the so-called scion of legend can have their moments and when he's not spouting poorly written epic fanfiction poetry, he's someone fun to hang around with. Especially during a festival.

Except Owain insists on dragging Inigo away from the ladies to focus on toy swords, goldfish-catching games, and silly masks. Going solo all of a sudden seems like a worthwhile idea...

Inigo grunts and folds his arms. He's not going to pout, he's not going to pout, he's not going to pout.



He pouts. Slightly.]

How about you do the rest of us all a favor and get one that covers your entire face?

[Isn't Inigo perpetually pouting? Anyway, he gives Inigo a look...but actually, it's a good point.]

Good idea! Nothing says mysterious hero like a full mask. [And now he's going through the selection. Thank the gods they have plenty of heroic plastic masks for him to go through!] Hey, Inigo, you should get one too.

[manhandled]

[There's pouting and then there's having a pouty look -- you know, the kind girls like because it gives off the impression that he has good bone structure and an angsty past. They love that stuff!

Anyway, he gives Owain a look himself.]

And cover up this handsome visage?

[He scoffs.]

No thank you. I fail to see how you could ever be a mysterious hero if everyone in a ten-mile radius already knows who you are, with or without a mask.

That's why it has to be a good mask! That's the point of a secret identity. Didn't you ever read about about the Scarlet Wyvern? Bitten by an enchanted wyvern, got great powers, and wore a mask even though everyone should've known who he was? And got away with it too. It's like that.

Here. [He's passing a mask to Inigo. It's a terrible one.]

Scarlet Wyvern? I think I stopped reading those stories when I was old enough to know how ridiculous everything about it sounds. Up to and including the premise and the reason why he wore the mask.

[A beat, as he all but snatches up the mask.]

It was on my seventh birthday.

[And just to prove a point about how ridiculous this all was, he puts the mask on.]

[...snr- okay, totally calm, totally has this.]

You look good. It looks good on you.

[Like he's going to let Inigo go at it alone. On goes his mask. (The red one, of course. Red is an awesome color. People with taste think it's the best. Awesome taste.)]

Gods- [Golly gosh, that is a man in some imposing armor.]

You really think so? [It's not that he doesn't trust you, it's just...who wears a helm? Hardly anybody he knows.]

Helms are the tactically sound choice.

Tactically, sure, but one, nobody I know wears one. Besides maybe Kjelle when she's beating up someone and...you don't know who she is anyway. Right? [Moving on.] Two, they don't lend themselves to...you know! Dramatic capes and hoods if you're trying to be a masked avenger of justice.

You've never seen an Astartes Praetor in full war gear, have you?

Never heard of them. Are we talking something like a wyvern rider or something more like a knight?

Never fear, Kotoha is an expert at decisions like these.

"Well, if you're going for mysterious, I'd suggest trying one of the silver ones, frankly. Red is for the flashy guys, most of the time."

And his hand stops just as it was about to grab the red mask from the vender, like an elaborate metaphor involving something scarlet. Apples from the tree? Roses? Cherry flavored lollipops from a candy stash? (Like he'd be able to pull off the last.)

"Really?" And yet. "I was thinking red but...you know, you're right." His mask hand changed course, reaching for the silver one next to it. It looked silly. "Besides, 'The Silver'...noun sounds cooler."

And of course, there was only one thing you could do with a mask in your hands. You put it on. Owain? No exception.

Kotoha puts on her own mask in response to that, because why should this guy get all the fun?

"Not bad! How's mine look?"

Pretend like the mask is appropriately colored.

"It looks..."

Wait for it.

"...heroic. Legendary, even! And a legendary hero needs a legendary weapon like..."

Now where were the toy weapons when you needed them.

Kotoha is really starting to get into this!

"Haha! The Lucario Kid has no need for a weapon! BEHOLD!"

And with that, she pulls out a pokeball and releases her Lucario, Arthur.

As Kotoha loops one arm around his shoulders, he takes in her mask and general demeanor and releases a tiny sigh.

Owain beheld, instinctively reaching for the nearest object that could conceivably be used as a sword (which was, in this case, a grilled corn on a stick, so it was more of a dagger) before stopping himself from doing something very stupid.

"Down, sword hand!"

Damned reflexes.

"What is that...thing. Dog?"
